We’re happy to announce the start of this 2 years project OMFix (‘Overcoming Mental Fixation by switching the internal spotlight: stochastic modeling of creative cognition in the lab and on the Web’) funded by the Austrian Science FundFWF logo

Based on stochastic models of memory psychology, OMFix will investigate the interplay between search and attentional processes in human memory during the act of combining previously dissociated thoughts to fresh and unexpected ideas. Insights gained in laboratory experiments will be used to characterize Web-based search processes in cognitive terms and to support them through mechanisms helping to break through monotonous echo rooms.

The project is a cooperation between Graz University of Technology (Paul Seitlinger, Dietrich Albert) and Tallinn University (Tobias Ley).
